Unto The Breach called a “great summer read” by Mommy’s Memmorandum:
“Gale weaves a story of suspense as three teenage boys and their high school teacher take a sailing trip together…the story became something I could lose myself in as it unfolded. I enjoyed watching the characters develop and appreciated the approach where they left the shore as boys and as the need for them to think, act and lend aid in the crisis they emotionally grew up. They must maintain the duties of the sailboat, survive and perform serious surgery before the book ends…This story is probably more appealing to young men, but interesting enough to capture a girl’s thrill of adventure.”
A new book review posted by Dad of Divas’ Blog:
“This was a book that will definitely take you on an amazing journey from start to finish. It was a book that kept me on the edge of my seat and made me wonder what I would do in a similar situation. I will say that even though I am not a sailor, I still appreciated the book and everything that was in the book about sailing, and I actually came out of the book much more knowledgeable about sailing in general. Outside of this the author has done an amazing job at developing the characters within the book, and because of this the plot and the adventure that ensues becomes even more tangible and poignant. This was an amazing story that all young readers will enjoy! ”

Here’s what Rob Bittner from CM Magazine has to say about Unto the Breach:
- “suspenseful and gripping”
- “compelling”
- “Gale works well with suspense, always giving enough information but not too much.”
- “The unique aspect of this work is the ending, which is both ambiguous and inspiring. There is no beautiful ending wrapped up in a bow, which makes it all much more impactful, and, therefore, more realistic.”

“It is so hard to find books for young males that aren’t contrived and boring. This book is neither. It reminds me of Gordon Korman books which are well-loved by many.”
